Landmine Kills Child and Injures Another in Syrian Countryside

(syriahr) The explosion of an old landmine in Al-Hasakah province killed one child and injured another while they were herding sheep in Bab Al-Faraj village. Since early 2024, 78 civilians, including 19 women and 25 children, died due to landmine explosions, unexploded shells, and bombs in Syria. The casualties include 69 injured civilians. In regime-controlled areas, 64 fatalities and 49 injuries occurred, with 44 truffle pickers among the dead. SDF-held areas saw 14 fatalities and 15 injured children, while HTS-held areas had four injured children. Additionally, a young man was injured in areas with Kurdish and regime forces.
