(BNN) Quang Tri, once the Vietnam War frontline, aims to rid itself of unexploded ordnance (UXO) by 2025, with the steering committee and organizations like the Norwegian People's Aid diligently working towards this mission. The province has made progress, clearing 173 square kilometers of hazardous zones, but faces the daunting task of addressing 442 square kilometers.
The human toll is severe, with over 8,540 casualties since 1975. Despite the challenges, Quang Tri is resolute, submitting proposals for UXO surveys and embodying human resilience in its pursuit of a safer, peaceful future, honoring the past and striving for a UXO-free tomorrow.
