JMU Student Housing in Antwerp
The Wol Natie Building
The
JMU residence in Antwerp, commonly called "Antwerp Hall,"
is located a few minutes away from the University of Antwerp. The
photo to the right shows the outside of the building, and the photos
below (scroll down) give additional perspective on the residence.
The residence is located in a safe, student area of Antwerp. You
will quickly learn that most of the residents in the other buildings
are also University of Antwerp students.
The JMU residence in Antwerp is convenient to shopping, train and
bus stations, many student-oriented business, and the University
of Antwerp.
The building says "Wol Natie" on the front, which is
Dutch for "Wool Company." In Europe, the ground floor
is the 0th floor. The "first" floor is what Americans
would call the "second" floor. In the Wool Company building,
there is a ground floor and four floors. The top floor has the three
studio apartments, but no common kitchen since there is a kitchenette
in each studio. The 3rd floor has four studios with a kitchenette
and four regular rooms without kitchenette, plus a common kitchen
on the floor for the rooms without the kitchenette. The first and
second floors each have eight rooms per floor, and each floor has
a common kitchen. There is no elevator in the building.
Student Rooms in Antwerp
Each dorm room has a bed, a chair, a table, a refrigerator with a small freezer
compartment, a wardrobe, drapes, and a toilet and shower in the room. Each
room also comes with a broadband Internet connection.

Each student room has a shower, toilet, and sink (not shown) inside the
room.

Common Kitchen
Each floor has a common kitchenette, with four hot plates,
a sink, and a microwave oven. Students can cook in the kitchenette, and eat
in their rooms. The kitchenettes on the first and second floor will serve
eight students, and the kitchenette on the third floor will serve four students.
There is no common kitchen on the fourth floor.


Single Studio with Kitchenette
There are four single studios on the third floor, each of which has a small
kitchenette in the studio. The bed in these single studios is a loft, and
the desk is under the loft, to conserve space. The refrigerator is under
the hotplates, and behind the kitchenette is the bathroom.

Hallway
On each floor, there are eight doors. On the forth floor, there are two
entrances to each of the three studio apartments.
