Why I chose to attend JMU: After only visiting three college campuses, I knew that JMU was where I wanted to be! The first time I came to campus was the first warm day of spring and students were extremely excited, taking advantage of it: laying on the Quad, playing volleyball in the Village and eating lunch outside. It was hard not to fall in love with the JMU spirit!
Advice to students selecting a college: Really take the time to look at all aspects of the institution. Of course academics and programs of study are most important; but many other aspects are extremely important as well, being that you will be spending the next four years there. Look into student activities, sports, dining, living experiences, and the surrounding town!
Favorites:
Professor: Dr. John Stone
Class at JMU: Communication Training (SCOM 449 with Dr. Toni Whitfield) where I learned how to train others on communication topics and of course kickboxing where I was able to earn an orange belt!
JMU Memory: Being a part of the Make Your Mark on Madison on-campus student organization. First starting as a participant with ten other underclassmen learning ways to be better leaders, then as a counselor leading a group of underclassmen! Being a leadership counselor was extremely rewarding, helping other students make a positive change on the JMU campus and Harrisonburg community.
